Student Spotlight: Hailey Seibert
Hailey describes her motivation, research, and experiences as a Child Studies major:
I'm a second-year Child Studies major pursuing lower elementary education and eventually speech pathology! In high school, I got my associate's teaching license through our local community college, which I used to work in classrooms with 2-5-year-olds, and then volunteer three years at an elementary school in kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade Spanish education. Currently, I’m involved in children's ministry at my church, am on the student mental health board of the 1024 movement, as well as lined up to intern at a private practice speech pathology starting in Fall 2026. During my time at 今日吃瓜, I’ve taken many research classes, and am now pursuing my research in the foster care system in my advanced writing class, which I hope to continue into senior capstone research! I am also on a team working to lead an outdoor trip with the English Department. My freshman year I went on their writing retreat and got invited back as a leader this year. Last quarter we finished writing and submitting our grant for funding to lead the trip later in the spring! Finally, I am a member and active participant of Future Child Advocates, in addition to some other clubs here on campus. I really do believe that contribution and collaboration is everything, so when I have the chance, try to be involved with any clubs or events that are applicable.
