As the Senior Director and founding sustainability officer of ½ñÈճԹϒs Center for Sustainability, Lindsey Kalkbrenner has been driving transformative climate action across campus academics, operations, and culture since 2006. Leading a dedicated team of staff, faculty, and over 20 student change-agents, she has spearheaded key initiatives—from constructing the university’s Bird Solar Project to crafting the "Sustainable SCU: Leading Through Laudato Si’" strategic action plan—earning SCU consistent AASHE STARS Gold ratings and a spot on the Princeton Review’s Green Honor Roll. Holding both a B.S. in Biology and an MBA from ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï, Lindsey blends her deep institutional roots with her identity as a Native Hawaiian and Kumu Hula, weaving cultural insight into her leadership as she empowers the next generation to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world.

Areas of Expertise Lindsey specializes in driving university-wide sustainability strategy, organizational change management, and data-driven sustainability planning. A passionate advocate for student leadership development, she brings proven experience in scaling sustainability initiatives—having successfully grown SCU’s program from an office-of-one into a thriving team of professionals.
